ENGLISH JOURNALThe chinese new year was a few weeks ago. Went around visiting relatives and friends of my parents. It was fun seeing our relatives which we don't often see each other. Caught up with my aunts and uncles and reminisce about the past when me and my siblings we still young. Gave oranges to our elders and we got red packets in exchange. However, i feel that chinese new year is getting more and more boring each year. We do not really look forward to it as we grow older because it is the same of routine every year and there is not much to do and that singapore does not really have the atmosphere of celebration unlike that in countries like china. Unlike the time, when we were young and get so excited about having new clothes for the chinese new year and get money without having to do anything other than wishing the people prosperity and giving them oranges. We also got to set off firecrackers around in the street. However, the good thing about chinese new year is that i get to meet my relatives and some other people. I can make new friends and enlarge my social circle.
Going back to the topic of how i spent my chinese new year this year. The first day was spent going to my grandparents house. Went there and chit chatted with my cousins. Ate the dinner which was cooked by my aunt. It was fantastically good. Went to watch the television after eating. But since the shows were quite boring, my siblings and cousin went down to the playground to play the swing. Talked about how life was and some stupid stuffs. I did a stupid stunt of climbing a curved ladder like thing and jumping onto the slide. It was rather stupid though. Went back to the house after half an hour. Went into the room to play dai dee with my brother and cousin. Was very fun. I got 3
dees during the last round and i won. Finally! After so many rounds. Went back home after that.
The second and third day of chinese new year was rather boring for me. Didn't do any visiting. I don't like to visit unknown people other than the fact that i will get to get ang bao money. But still, i don't like to. Slacking throughout these 2 days, my chinese new year was over very quickly.
